Services Overview

I’m not an agency, but I have the experience of one!

From the start my mission has been to create out-of-the box designs and photography for print and web with impeccable service and prices. I’m not an overpriced big house agency, but I do offer a full range of website, print and social media services to my clients of every size. I built my business on the principles of awe-inspiring design, personable client services, and an efficient work flow making me the one-stop-shop for creative work at a fair price.

Many of my clients hire me as their in-house design, website & marketing department while others hire me on a project basis. Don’t see what you’re looking for in the sidebar to the right, just ask!

What it means to you and your business

I start by developing your company logo and brand identity, or I can take your existing one and execute it over your marketing materials such as your website, ads, brochures, and business cards to give you a consistent look and feel of your brand’s personality. I help bridge that gap from your company to your customers with consistency. Sure it’s nice to “look good,” but it’s even better for my clients to “sell good!”

I enjoy every challenge my clients give me and even more so, I enjoy watching their businesses grow.

Why WordPress for my website?
I design websites exclusively with WordPress because it’s so easy to use. Once it’s set up, anyone can easily add content of any kind, including text, images, audio, and videos.

I create a custom designed website and use a WordPress template theme, then install all the necessary plug-ins that help enhance your websites look and functionality. Your website will not only reflect your personality, but will attract more potential customers and spotlight your services and/or products.

Many websites you visit on a daily basis are powered by WordPress. The majority of magazines, television networks, and celebrity websites are created with WordPress.

I’m not familiar with WordPress, can you help me?
After your website is completed I will answer any questions you have and walk you through the basics of your website. I can also provide text files of specific tutorials and links to helpful websites.

WordPress.org is a great place to find answers, and I encourage you to look it over. The site offers help on how to work with WordPress. If you’re still having a hard time after you’ve reviewed the suggested links and tutorials, I’ll be more than happy to help. Of course, I must charge for my time, but I do offer reduced rates for current clients.

How do I get started?

  • First select a website package
  • Please email or call to setup a meeting. I have found it works best when the client verbally tells me about their project, and I can see and/or hear the passion behind your concept
  • I will design 2-3 concepts and use themes that I think will work best for your website. Most of my themes are premium themes which require a purchase (typically $65-$75), but I also offer my clients the option to select a free theme from WordPress.com
  • Upon approval I will ask you to supply me with the content  such as pictures, logos, videos, etc. that are required for your website
  • I will have you review and test your website until it’s customized to your approval. Your website doesn’t go live until you’re happy with it and comfortable with taking care of it yourself
  • Due to my low prices, you will have only TWO major revisions to the design, so please makes notes about what you like and don’t like and what you want changed. Multiple, “move-it-up-a-bit” changes and numerous, minor text changes cannot be accommodated unless you are willing to pay for the extra time
  • Upon approval of the final version of the website, you will need to pay all remaining project fees and I will set up your domain name and web hosting (if it was included in your package) or upload your new design to your current hosting
  • Once a design is agree upon and installed on your server, the original contract between Mike Hnida Design & Photography and the client is complete. Any additional work will be completed at my regular $75/hr rate or via a new quote, ie: additional plugins, buttons, banners, fixing damaged coding, etc.
  • Installation will not be completed until full payment has been received

What is it going to cost me? I have a very low budget, what can you do for me?
I can accommodate almost any budget. Feel free to contact me so we can discuss options.

How do I pay?
I currently accept checks or PayPal payments. Fees are due 90 days from the time of the projects completion.

After my website goes live, how much will it cost to update it?
I will make minor changes free of charge to your website for as long as you are a client! Minor changes include, but aren’t limited to, minor text changes, adding links, updating your WordPress core and plug-ins when necessary, etc. Anything more than a minor change is subject to my hourly rate.

The following are considered to be more than a minor change:

  • Creating additional pages
  • Altering the design of your website (this includes header design changes, logo design changes, changes to the layout of the theme, etc.)
  • Moving your site to a new hosting provider, or moving your domain registration to a new registrar
  • Creating databases via you hosting control panel
  • Setting up any additional plug-ins and or scripts not included in your original design

However, since WordPress is so easy to work with, you will most likely be able to make most updates yourself!

Can I update the website on my own?
Yes, and I encourage my clients to do so. I will also include links to specific tutorials and helpful websites, as well as your themes documentations of functionality.

If a client chooses to take care of their own site, I will assume that they either have the knowledge to do so, or they will learn elsewhere. I would love to be able to give in-depth instruction on how to do every thing associated with taking care of your website, but with the sheer number of clients I work with on a daily basis, it would be impossible.

How long before my site goes live?
That depends on how quickly you get your content to me, the number of revisions you make to your initial design concept, and my current workload. I do my best to make all my clients the priority, but only have so many hours in the day. It also depends on how quickly you answer my emails. The estimated time frame for most projects is 7-28 business days.

Who owns my website?
You own it! Mike Hnida Design & Photography reserves the right to use a link to your website and an image of your website for marketing and portfolio purposes.
